Hoher Seeblaskogel

We set off in Gries around 8:30 a.m. and follow the path up to the “Winnebachseehütte”. When we get there, we take the time to have a few bites of our snack and discuss the further course of our route. We decide to take the short detour via the sunny south side but therefore quickly escape the light but icy wind. At 12:30, we find ourselves ready to ski at the entrance to our variant through the striking western gully of the “Seeblaskogel”. The entrance is a bit rocky but possible without any effort. We brought some reserve material with us, but fortunately it is not needed.
After a few steep turns in the narrow top part of the couloir, a real powder dream awaits us as soon as the gully becomes a little wider. Because of its west and wind orientation, I assume that it will be difficult to find any better conditions in here.
Shortly after 1 a.m. we returned to the yet closed hut and would have been delighted to have a cold beer on the outside sun terrace. Something potential repeaters may enjoy later in the season, as the hut usually opens it doors mid February.
